Chain length
Hi, does anyone know how many links I need for the chain and what pitch? I'd like to use a closed link chain with no split link if poss. I have a 1127 engine and would like to either run standard gearing or lower it slightly. Smaller front sprocket is the cheapest way so if anybody can do the maths for me based on that I'd be grateful.
Cheers,
Jenk

hi jenk, you won't get a closed link chain as you would have to remove swinging arm on standard bike to fit it. theres two types of split links in use, the spring clip types ( which have been used since the chain was invented) and the rivet type. the length of the chain will depend on the sprockets used, i dropped from a 47 rear to a 42 and had to remove 2 links. easiest way way to get length of chain is fit it to bike, mark and cut, half hour job. one of the easy jobs of the build.
